Expanding preservation and education of West Virginia’s cultural legacy

WVU Libraries has launched a fundraising initiative to invest in critical expansions of unique West Virginia cultural collections. These efforts will grow the Libraries’ archival and outreach efforts in three areas of state-wide pride and national impact.

Research on environmentalist Larry Gibson to be dedicated to the West Virginia & Regional History Center at celebratory event

On March 6, research compiled to produce a biography about West Virginia environmentalist Larry Gibson will be officially transferred to the West Virginia & Regional History Center (WVRHC) during a public event at 6:30 p.m.

Funding secured for congressional archives enhancements, civics and history education

WVU Libraries received $1.5 million in congressionally directed spending to expand utility, usability and capacity of the American Congress Digital Archives Portal and to equip West Virginia and other states’ K-12 educators with resources.

Funding Secured for Classroom Enhancements

WVU Libraries received $250,000 in congressionally directed spending to improve classroom technology at the Downtown and Evansdale libraries, making them more hybrid-friendly.

Donations Open Doors

WVU Libraries receives support during the year from donors and the community through cash and endowment gifts as well as gift-in-kind in the form of artifacts and archives for the West Virginia and Regional History Center, and books.

1.4 Million Dollar Donation

Historians statewide will benefit from a $1.4 million estate gift from a late West Virginia University professor to support the West Virginia & Regional History Center at WVU Libraries.
