Art in the Libraries is proud to announce its call for the 2026 Faculty/Staff Exhibit Awards is now open through Feb. 27.
As part of its mission, Art in the Libraries seeks to highlight the art and scholarship of West Virginia University faculty and staff. For this annual award, the Art in the Libraries committee invites current WVU faculty and staff to submit ideas for consideration for an exhibit to visually showcase their scholarship in new and experimental ways.
Exhibit ideas can present a visual evolution of their work, visualize their research and influences, or answer a research question. Faculty and staff proposals should be based on academic or creative research and lend themselves to visual interpretation with Art in the Libraries consultation.
The goals of these awards are to:
- Provide a multidisciplinary platform for deeper learning.
- Foster intellectual discourse and discussion.
- Demonstrate the breadth of WVU’s creative and innovative activity.
The winning submission will be displayed in Room 1020 of the Downtown Library for one semester. Additionally, the awardee will be invited to give a public lecture, program, or demonstration. The award includes $1,000 in professional development funds.
The award also includes a consultation with Yiheng Wu, WVU Libraries’ Data Analysis & Visualization Librarian, on visualizing scholarship, as well as help with design, limited printing, installation, promotion, and coordination of a public program, offering an opportunity for exposure.
All WVU faculty and staff are eligible. For more information about deadlines, requirements, previous winners and examples, and how to submit, visit exhibits.lib.wvu.edu/awards/faculty-awards.
Winners will be selected by the Art in the Libraries Committee and selection will be based on applications that best meet the award’s goals listed above.
Applicants may contact Sally Brown for a tour and/or consultation before applying.
