With several years of experience in higher education and teaching, and a passion for student success, Jessica Calvert brings a student-first approach into their new role as a student success & instruction librarian in the Student Success & Instruction department at West Virginia University Libraries.

In their new role at WVU Libraries, Calvert will deliver course-related, course-integrated, and credit-bearing information literacy instruction, both in person and online to enhance students' research skills and critical thinking abilities. In addition, they will facilitate library workshops.
Previously, Calvert served as the student services and curriculum coordinator, as well as the enrollment services specialist, at Virginia Tech College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. In these roles, Calvert provided academic support and shared campus resources with students, families, and university personnel, supplied academic counsel for Liberal Arts Undecided (LAU) students, and designed the syllabus and curriculum for the first-year experience course.
Calvert earned a Master of Library Information and Science (MLIS) from Louisiana State University and a bachelor’s in professional and technical writing, literature and language, and creative writing from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
