Metadata & Cataloging Librarian Cypress Payne

Cypress Payne’s passion for cataloging and experience as a metadata technical specialist in the Metadata and Cataloging Initiatives unit at the University of Washington Libraries has set her up as an ideal addition to the Knowledge Access & Resource Management (KARM) team.
Payne will focus on creating, harvesting and enhancing metadata for WVU collections in both machine-readable cataloging (MARC) and non-MARC formats. She will also collaborate with colleagues across the institution to develop metadata best practices, including the selection of metadata schemas, data elements, controlled vocabularies and crosswalks to make resources accessible for collections in diverse formats.
Payne earned her MLIS from the University of Washington and a dual bachelor’s degree in computer science and liberal arts from Seattle Pacific University.
Processing Archivist Kathryn Reagan
Processing Archivist Kathryn Reagan.
Kathryn Reagan’s experience processing historical collections at the Senator John Heinz History Center and working a variety of public and school library jobs has set her up as an ideal addition to the West Virginia & Regional History Center (WVHRC).
Reagan will be working with the WVHRC to contribute to the arrangement and description of physical materials in the Congressman Nick Joe Rahall II papers. She will also oversee digitization and metadata creation for digital materials and quality control of vendor-digitized archival assets. Kathryn will work collaboratively with the Libraries’ Systems Department and WVRHC faculty and staff, contributing to digital preservation of collection materials.
Reagan earned her Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from the University of Pittsburgh and a bachelor’s in sociology from Grove City College .
Data Analysis & Visualization Librarian Yiheng Wu
Data Analysis & Visualization Librarian Yiheng Wu.
Yiheng Wu’s educational background in mathematics and statistics, as well as his extensive experience working with Python and R, aligns well with his role on the WVU Libraries Research Support and Engagement (RSE) team.
Wu will lead the RSE department’s analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of data analysis and visualization service, prioritizing services and initiatives with tools such as finding databases, R/RStudio, Python, Tableau, SPSS and SAS. He will also deliver data management and sharing services, including consultations, workshops, learning and directional materials, instructional programming tailored to individual or University needs.
Wu earned a Master of Arts in Statistics from Columbia University and a bachelor's with a double major in mathematics and statistics from Rutgers University.
